How to tell if the board is ok when iceprog hangs?

Icebreaker board arrived today from https://1bitsquared.de/ but I am not sure it is ok. I plugged it into the usb and all leds lit up but without documentation is hard to guess what expect. (I was expecting some blinking led out of the box).

I compiled the the pwm example and then the iceprog step hangs:

iceprog pwm.bin
init..
cdone: low
reset..
cdone: low
Extended Device String Length is 0xFF, this is likely a read error. Ignorig...
flash ID: 0xFF 0xFF 0xFF 0xFF
file size: 104090
erase 64kB sector at 0x000000..

It hangs forever on the erase 64kB line…
The USB device is visible:

Bus 003 Device 082: ID 0403:6010 Future Technology Devices International, Ltd FT2232C Dual USB-UART/FIFO IC

But I swapped the usb cable anyway but no effect.
I am pretty sure the problem is not with iceprog, because iceprog works fine with my icestick.

So any idea if I am doing something wrong or that the board is damaged maybe?

thanks

I’m pretty sure boards should blink by default. The ID of all 0xFF strongly implies a problem with the flash; do you see anything soldered wrong or feel anything get hot?
